Home Redesign
Changing how a space looks and functions without moving walls or rerouting plumbing. New finishes, lighting, millwork, furniture, and a smarter use of the layout you already have. Faster, far less disruptive, and often more transformative than people expect.
Home Renovation
Rebuilding rooms that are worn out or no longer work, most often kitchens, bathrooms, and flooring, usually with some new plumbing and electrical. The footprint of the house mostly stays the same, but the rooms themselves are redone from the studs.
House Remodeling
Changing the structure of the home itself. Opening walls, reworking the floor plan, relocating a kitchen or bathroom, or reconfiguring the units in a plex. It is the most involved option, and the one where careful planning matters most.

Home Renovation FAQs
There is no honest single number. Cost depends on how much of the house is involved, whether walls and plumbing are moving, the age of the home, and the level of finish you are after. A redesign that keeps the existing layout costs a fraction of a full remodel that relocates a kitchen or opens up a floor. Older homes also carry some unknowns until the walls are open, so we build a contingency into every budget. On the discovery call, we talk through your scope and give you a realistic sense of where it is likely to land.
For a full home, design and planning usually take two to four months, depending on how many decisions are involved. Construction on a whole-house remodel commonly runs four to eight months. A smaller renovation, such as a kitchen and a bathroom or two, is more often in the range of eight to fourteen weeks on site. We lay out a schedule early and keep it updated as the project moves.
Sometimes. Smaller renovations can often be phased so part of the house stays usable. For a whole-house remodel, especially one that involves the kitchen, plumbing, or heavy demolition, most families find it much easier to move out for the main construction period. Either way, we help you plan the sequence so you know which weeks will be the most disruptive.
In Montreal, renovation permits are issued by your borough, and the requirements vary somewhat from one borough to the next. Work that affects the structure, plumbing, electrical, or exterior usually needs a permit, while purely cosmetic updates often do not. We coordinate with your contractor on what applies to your project and provide the drawings needed for the application.
Interior renovations can happen year round in Montreal, and winter is often a good time to build since trades tend to have more availability. Spring and early summer book up quickly. It is also worth planning around the Quebec construction holiday in late July, when most crews stop work for two weeks. Starting the design a few months before you want construction to begin gives you the best choice of dates.
